Chamber:
Senate

Sponsor:

Passed Assembly (2026-05-20T00:00:00.000Z)

This bill allows experienced Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHCs) and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs) to supervise each other’s licensure candidates. To qualify, supervisors must have at least three years of licensure, hold diagnostic privilege, and complete specific training in clinical supervision. This change aims to alleviate supervisor shortages, making it easier for new professionals to become licensed and strengthen New York’s mental health workforce.
