Many clinicians providing transgender care may lack full understanding of the recommendations required by the WPATH Standards of Care. This workshop will review WPATH’s expectations for counselors as well as discuss ways to use evidence-based practices, advocacy, and linkage with other services to assist their transgender clients.

Learning Objectives

  3. After completing this course, participants will learn how to interact with people who are transgender in a supportive way.

  6. After completing this course, participants will learn about options to provide care to people who are transgender.

About Dr. Dombrowski

Dr. Dombrowski has worked in the mental health field since 1999 earning a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2006 and completing a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision in 2016. His professional experience includes working with various treatment modalities including inpatient, outpatient, residential, and forensic treatment. Through these various experiences he has worked with adults and children living with co-occurring disorders. Dr. Dombrowski specializes in transgender clinical mental health counseling, He has directed several clinics for services for LGBTQIA+ populations requiring ongoing community advocacy, education, and connection to services. Dr. Dombrowski is currently a full time Associate Professor at the University of Bridgeport.
