PRE-CONVENTION WORKSHOP ADD-ONS $100 These workshops are scheduled for Friday, April 12, from 2:00 to 5:00pm. These workshops provide an opportunity for convention attendees to participate in a more in-depth experience about the particular subject. Pre-Convention workshops require separate registration in addition to the Convention. 
| Empowering Healing: Advanced Strategies in Trauma-Informed Care for Sexual Trauma Survivors Presented by Renee LaRock-Gary, LMHC A dynamic training designed for mental health professionals seeking to deepen their understanding and enhance their skills in working with survivors of sexual trauma. (3 continuing education hours) | 
| Crisis De-escalation Techniques in Working with Children Presented by Joanna Agnello, LMHC The workshop will explore crisis-de-escalation work with children and review various areas of the brain and understand behavior through a behavioral lens. while utilizing vignettes to explore various strategies to assist children in crisis. (3 continuing education hours) | 
| The Power of Somatic Therapy: An Introductory Course Presented by Renee Seff, LMHC, LPC, ACS Through lecture and practicum, clinicians will learn how to identify signs of trauma, incorporate somatic exercises into their practice, properly interview clients with somatic intentions in mind, and provide clients with long lasting skills to heal. (3 continuing education hours) | 
| An Intensive Introduction to Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) Presented by Dr. Debbie Joffe Ellis, LMHC Dr. Ellis will provide an opportunity for attendees to immerse themselves in the REBT theory and learn how to apply REBT in their practice. (3 continuing education hours) | 
| Fundamentals of Clinical Supervision Presented by Dr. Thomas Murphy, LMHC, LPC, NCC, ACS This course will provide an introduction to clinical supervision theory, structure and ethics. Participants will review supervision models and theory and learn how to apply them in supervision practice. | Dr. Debbie Joffe Ellis
Dr. Debbie Joffe Ellis is a licensed psychologist (Australia), licensed mental health counselor (New York), presenter, writer and adjunct professor at Columbia University in New York City where she teaches Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy and Comparative Psychotherapies. For years, she worked with her husband, the brilliant and renowned pioneer of modern cognitive therapies, Dr. Albert Ellis, giving public presentations and professional trainings in his approach of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), as well as collaborating with him on writing and research projects until his death in 2007. Before his passing he stated and wrote that he entrusted her to continue his work. She is recognized as a world-renowned expert on REBT, and regularly presents, throughout the USA and in countries around the world, to students, academics, practitioners in the helping professions, and to members of the general public. She wrote the second edition of the book Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (published 2019) that she co-wrote with her husband in its first edition. In 2014 she was named “Legend in Counseling” at the American Counseling Association annual conference, and has received various other awards and acknowledgments for her work. |

Dr. Fredrick Dombrowski Fredrick Dombrowski is the Past President of the American Mental Health Counselors Association and has extensive experience treating those living with co-occurring disorders since 1998. He has been a supervisor and director for multiple programs including inpatient, outpatient, and forensic treatment. Currently a Department Chair at the University of Bridgeport, he is focused on experiential learning through a perspective of cultural humility and an equitable clinical care. He has recently published the book Co-occurring Mental Illness and Substance Use Disorders and has appeared on television, radio, and internet advocating for the helping professions. He has won several awards for his work with marginalized populations. |
