Becoming a member of the New York Mental Health Counselors Association shows your commitment to and support of the advancement, promotion, and protection of the mental health counseling profession. As a member, you will be a part of a community of fellow professionals, students, and supporters who recognize the importance of mental health counseling and mental health counselors.

A professional membership requires the applicant to meet the following standards: hold at least a master's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning in counseling or a related area that covers the basic principles of mental health counseling; work or are actively seeking to work in a setting where time is spent in direct delivery of counseling services; and are licensed/certified in their state or hold appropriate clinical mental health counseling credentials.

The professional membership includes all available benefits and services offered by NYMHCA, including discounted access to professional development programming.

The professional membership is a voting member type.

As a faculty or staff member of a participating graduate program, you may access NYMHCA's member benefits at a greater discounted rate.

To join NYMHCA via the Graduate Professional Identity Program, your college or university must be an active participant in the GPIP. Check with your academic program to find out if it is participating and request the membership access code.

The GPIP Professional Membership includes a Regional Chapter Membership. (A $25 value)

Memberships will automatically renew on the anniversary date of the membership registration. The card on file will be automatically charged. Auto-renewal may be deactivated by signing into the member profile. 

Memberships are non-refundable and non-transferable.
